Music TGIF - Bad Music Joke(s) of the Week - Trick or Treat!

Not very Halloween, but a little dark and creepy, several Bad Music Jokes somewhat in the spirit...

What do you get when 20 violinists start playing at the same time but play different songs? A senseless act of violins.

Q: Why did they bury the conductor 20 feet under?
A: Because deep down, he was a really nice guy.

What do you call a guy with no arms or legs who can play 5 musical instruments? Stump the Band.

Why did the Philharmonic disband? Excessive sax and violins.

What do you get if Bach dies and is reincarnated as twins?
A pair of Re-bachs.

Opera: When a guy gets stabbed in the back and instead of bleeding, he sings.

AN-DANTE: A tempo that's infernally slow

And, included, of course, a definitely out-of-the-ordinary music graphic or two...

Music TGIF - 4th of July Version - Piccolo

It's Bad Music Joke of the Week - the 4th of July Version.

In a 4th-of-July mood and thinking about the piccolo solo (or piccoli soli if the band is lucky enough to have more than one good piccolo player).

Do you remember the words from your childhood that go with this piccolo/piccoli section of "Stars and Stripes Forever"? As I recall them...

Be kind to your web-footed friends
for a duck may be somebody's mother.
Be kind to your friends in the swamp
where the weather is very, very damp.
Well, you may think that this is the end,
but it's not!

Now that that is firmly stuck in your head, repeating itself:

DILL PICCOLO: A small wind instrument which only plays sour notes.

And, one more time, and this is not a joke:

(Tweets?) Toots Day - Bird Song

Okay, this is quite a stretch, but that's okay. It's TweetsDay TootsDay?

You might consider this Part 2 to "Music Monday." I found the website for this PBS show "The Music Instinct" about music and science I mentioned on "Music Monday." I thought there might be some good online content, and I was right. Lots of good online content - check it out @ www.pbs.org/wnet/musicinstinct

And, what about Toots and Tweets? This TV program and its website linked in the above paragraph discuss bird song. Do birds toot? Um, again, kinda of a stretch, but you could argue so. A voice, whether bird, or humans, for that matter, have similar construction to a wind instrument. Think about it - a very flexible and fleshy wind instrument, but...sure... I'm an alto wind instrument - or actually tenor (I have a low vocal range for a woman.). How about you? And, think about this the next you hear a bird song.
