Tootsday - Do You Kazoo?

Do You Kazoo? magnet
Do You Kazoo? by rattlebrained
Make a personalized magnet on zazzle.com
No doubt, you have, or do. And then there's the, um, amateur version... Surely you've done the tissue on a comb, or the aluminum wrap on the empty cardboard paper roll, attached by a rubber band? If you have not, well, get up and do it right now! Get everyone around you to do the same, create a band. There aren't too many musical instruments any cheaper, whether store-bought or not.

A friend once taught me how to play "2001: A Space Odyssey" on piano and kazoo. I'll have to get that out, try it again, and share it around... Kazoo!

TootsDay - Trumpet & More

American Band Nerds bag
American Band Nerds by MarchingBand
Design Personalized Bags at zazzle

Look, see, there is something to toot - the farmer is holding a trumpet. Looks like a rather nice trumpet, too. (If that picture looks rather familiar it is a parody of the painting "American Gothic" by Grant Wood, in the Art Institute in Chicago.) The farmer's wife is holding drum sticks, wonder if she's any good? (Picturing in my mind this lady surrounded by a drum kit... ) Hey, why not? You go, "Girl"!

It's WindsDay! - Blowing in the Wind [Instrument]

It's WindsDay - this graphic shows a bunch of old-timey musicians trying (succeeding? who knows?) to play a giant, strange, tuba-like big brass wind instrument. Looks as if they have their work cut out for them here. I wonder what that big brass thing would sound like? {{((BBWWWAAAAHH!!!))}} No, more bass... More sub-woofer like. More earthquake, sonic boom, shuttle-landing, explosion, thunder like...? Hmmm... Major rumbling.

Anyway, lots of this graphic on Zazzle at Music Stuff & More @ Zazzle and @ CafePress (with an additional variation of this graphic at Music Stuff & More @ CafePress )

Musical Fun w/ YouTube

I'm sorry I just couldn't resist.

My apologies if anything offensive should slip out (I take no responsibility for the quality of the contents, you know how it is on YouTube, right?).

I set the YouTube thingie for "numa numa, mario music, evolution of dance." What you see is what YouTube is sending back here.

*I* like it - and that does count for something (to me). ; )

ENJOY. Isn't that what music is mostly about, anyway?

P.S. Please note the current CafePress sale, for details see the CHM Biz News Blog headers on the left sidebar.

Bad Music Joke(s) of the Week

After this week, Bad Music Joke of the Week will be no more...

Don't be surprised if I post a bad music joke now and then here, however. You likely will find some other music humor here as well from time to time.

I've been posting the Bad Music Joke of the Week for years.

That's a lot of Bad Music Jokes.

Accordingly, there is a lengthy archive of Bad Music Jokes of the Week available on my website for your perusal.

Pardon my website - it is currently under massive renovation. As you can tell, it could use it. For the most part it works, however. You might find some music stuff there you like, what the heck...

Anyway, a listing of jokes is a listing of jokes, period, what more can you do with it? or would want to? Right?

In the same website + music vein, see also http://www.carolynhmayer.com/Music.htm - Music Stuff or The Music Page

In the News - The Call of the Wild (a funny)

From a friend's E-Mail... Holy Bullwinkle.

Moose Captured After Boy Plays Saxophone

From Associated Press
December 20, 2005 9:02 PM EST

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - A moose that had been wandering near Sioux Falls and other parts of eastern South Dakota in recent weeks has been captured and taken to the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.

Veterinarian Dayton Williams of Sioux Falls brought down the animal with a tranquilizer gun around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday as it moved through snow-covered corn stubble near Interstate 29, south of Sioux Falls.

The animal was loaded into a horse trailer and transported to the zoo.

Connie Evenson of Sioux Falls was among those who saw the moose. She said she noticed movement in her backyard Monday afternoon as she watched television in her living room.

"At first I thought it was somebody's dog," Evenson said. "Then I got up to look out of our bank of windows, and it was much bigger."

She called to her family and took photos of the animal as it came within 20 feet of their house.

"We thought it was kind of funny, but our son, Matt, was practicing his baritone saxophone and had his window open," Evenson said. "We wondered if it was like the call of the wild that attracted the moose to our house."

State Game, Fish and Parks officers had been tracking the moose for a couple of months and decided to catch it to prevent it from becoming a public safety threat, officials said.

"Being it was staying so close to Sioux Falls for such a long time ... we were concerned a little bit with the public's safety," said Arden Petersen, a regional supervisor for the GF&P.

The moose won't be on public display at the zoo, officials said. Instead, they hope to calm it down and relocate the animal.

Christmas Song "Titles" (a musical quiz for the holidays)

Christmas Song "Titles"

Maybe you've seen these alternate Christmas song titles. This is an online oldie - but a goodie.

"Monarchial Trio"? - too easy, of course you know that one.

"So, these three notes walk into a bar..." Enjoy a joke!

In spite of its reference to someone (a pitch yet) being "under a rest" : ) - this is a really clever joke. Here's something funny that actually makes sense. There's real music information here, folks, you'll notice.

So, these three notes walk into a bar: a C, an E-flat and a G.

The bartender looks up and says, "We don't serve minors."

So, the E-flat leaves and the other two have a fifth between them.

After a few drinks, the G was out flat and the experience was diminished.

Eventually, the C sobers up, sees one of his friends missing, the other one passed out and realizes to his horror that he's under a rest.

C was brought to trial, found guilty and convicted of contributing to the diminution of a minor.

Later he was sentenced to 10 years of DS without Coda at the Paul Williams, Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka, Wayne Newton, Bobby Vinton, Jerry Vale Correctional Facility.

Just updated the Music Page on my Website

There's been a lot happening in the "Music Stuff" part of CHM Design Store: new graphics, new merchandise. There was a lot of updating and adding to do to the Music Page.

There will be much more as I can add it. And I will soon. (I'm eager. Chaffing at the bit.)

Also, be sure and check out, as well as keep an eye on, Sales & Features - find a sampling of what's available for School & Fall (cool-weather wear, etc.), as well as some of the new merchandise.

Blowing in the Wind [Instrument]

The graphic. For the same reason the Circle of Fifths graphic was less than wonderful here was for the same reason. (I've got to work on improving this - as it nowhere near does justice to my graphic work.)

Again, click on the title above to get to these graphics and their merchandise. Note that there are two versions of this graphic: with a musical staff border (added by moi), and without. The "without" is shown at your left.

Aren't these guys funny? I got a big kick out of this old illustration the first time I saw it - and, I'm not even a wind player (well, a tiny bit of recorder and harmonica, but...you know...).
