WindsDay! - Pick a Piccolo

Pick a Piccolo - the cuter flute?

Obviously, I'm still on the Piccolo thing where I left off on the 4th of July (Remember Sousa and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" piccolo solo, etc.?)

Music TGIF - 4th of July Version - Piccolo

It's Bad Music Joke of the Week - the 4th of July Version.

In a 4th-of-July mood and thinking about the piccolo solo (or piccoli soli if the band is lucky enough to have more than one good piccolo player).

Do you remember the words from your childhood that go with this piccolo/piccoli section of "Stars and Stripes Forever"? As I recall them...

Be kind to your web-footed friends
for a duck may be somebody's mother.
Be kind to your friends in the swamp
where the weather is very, very damp.
Well, you may think that this is the end,
but it's not!

Now that that is firmly stuck in your head, repeating itself:

DILL PICCOLO: A small wind instrument which only plays sour notes.

And, one more time, and this is not a joke:

John Phillip Sousa "Stars and Stripes Forever" ♫ http://twt.fm/188169

Happy 4th of July, Independence Day!

TootsDay - Trumpet & More

American Band Nerds by MarchingBand
Design Personalized Bags at zazzle

Look, see, there is something to toot - the farmer is holding a trumpet. Looks like a rather nice trumpet, too. (If that picture looks rather familiar it is a parody of the painting "American Gothic" by Grant Wood, in the Art Institute in Chicago.) The farmer's wife is holding drum sticks, wonder if she's any good? (Picturing in my mind this lady surrounded by a drum kit... ) Hey, why not? You go, "Girl"!
